Absolutely brilliant! Staff are friendly and welcoming! The service is excellent and the food is great. Prices are reasonable as the food is so worth it. 😁
Debbie Dwyer, June 2023Very pleasant restaurant to come and eat out. Although it seems more popular with people picking up takeaway food. We must have come on a quiet night as it was just us and two more couples. The food was of a very high standard and served by two very friendly staff. More non-alcoholic drinks would have been great.
Parking: Loads of availability
Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor. No stairs. Easy to get in through the doors.

Rob Carey, May 2021The food is sensational!
I crave it all the time, the spicing is truly authentic. Great business owners and family business. By far my favourite restaurant! Support your local business.
Table for 2, excellent friendly service
Social distanced tables, temperature taken on arrival and hand cleaning station. The place was cosy & warm and looked bright and clean. The food was really good, presented very well and piping hot, good range of drinks and the wine was lovely. Very reasonable price. We Will certainly return.
Definitely recommend
Having lived in the south for a while, I asked friends for a decent Indian restaurant in Shrewsbury, and this place did not disappoint, I would definitely recommend it. The staff were very friendly and pretty attentive, the food was very good too. Look forward to going back soon.
Great food, Great staff with professional service
Lea Cross Tandoori, we can highly recommend. When ever we have eaten in or as this year has been so bad due to the pandemic we have had takeaways the service has always been professional and courteous. The food is heavenly and always consistently great. My favourite are the potato balls from the starter menu, I could eat a lot of portions of these.
The salads and onions they pack with each takeaway are always freshly done and a lovely touch.
The staff are friendly and from the time you phone an order in they prepare great food in a timely fashion. Thank you for your lovely meals that have made our weekly takeaways so enjoyable. Keep up the great work.
Amazing food and service
This is one of the best curry houses in the UK. Amazing food and service, the guys work so hard here and really get to know their customers. The food is exceptional. Too many good dishes to recommend. You MUST eat here, get a take away from here or even get a delivery
Buffet night
We where here last night for the buffet fantastic. You have missed it ! You will have to go next week don't for get. You will not be disappointed.
Best curry house in Shropshire
Yes folks, you won’t do better. There are others, some even almost as good as Lea Cross Tandoori but you will pay up to 30% more!
Eat in or takeaway I guarantee the brothers will serve you up the best curry you’ve ever tasted. With a chilled glass of Cobra to wash it down what could be better?
Exemplary service and fantastic food
We recently visited for valentine's day I have to say the restaurant was busy but this didn't effort the exemplary stand of service we received. The food was by far the best Indian I have had in Shropshire. I would highly recommend a visit here. The staff are friendly and welcoming the service we received was outstanding. Great restaurant excellent food definitely would visit again. Also had a take away from here and that was of the same standard ☺️
Great food and great staff. Great place
You will not be disappointed. Great place for family and friends. And also a Buffet night to try new things to eat.
Birthday treat
Lovely takeaway delivered for my hubbies birthday treat. Really enjoyed it, the only thing that I could mention is that the madras was a little too mild for my taste. Apart from that it was very tasty <3
Fantastic food, service and staff
Everything a good curry house should be! Amazing owners and staff, brilliant chef and good prices. The food is amazing. Recommend recommend recommend!!
Great food, super friendly staff
We have been here twice for a takeaway twice now whilst staying nearby on holiday. Both times the food has been great with friendly and polite staff. I had a duck tikka curry as I’d never had duck in an Indian curry before, to be honest it was a bit tough. However the curry was delicious, so I’d have the same curry again but not the same meat choice.
My wife had chicken tikka tandoori and said it was super tender. The keema chilli nan was delicious and I’m always pleased to see natural colour in keema, rather than the lurid red at some places.
Overall I’d say this is a great curry house and I’ll definitely come back.
First Class every time
The brothers have the most perfect restaurant with just the right mix of friendly and not in your face. Food is the best in the county, and just not a problem to look after friends that had allergies or food concerns.
Really good curry!!
Not a lengthy review. Just go there and try it. You will not be disappointed. One of the best Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants that I have been to. Really good and value for money. Try it!!
Midweek night out...
Had a rubbish day at work... so needed to eat out... as you do. decide to try here, as its local. Was pretty quiet on a weeknight, so was seated quickly and given menus and a drink order taken - I had a lamb curry, my wife had a chicken curry, we had a rice and naan to share, and our 7 year old opted for fish fingers and chips.... as you do.
Food was very tasty and fresh - we had poppadums and salad to start, and for the 3 of us, we were less than £50, so quite reasonable. Would come back.
Andy K, May 2019Great Indian Restaurant
You dont expect this to be an Indian restaurant but its worth the drive out of town to eat here. Lovely staff and great food.
Lovely food
Have eaten in here and had take out several times. Highly recommend. Amazing food and good prices. Staff are friendly and always smiling.
First visit - will be back
Early visit on Friday evening, having recently moved into the area. Quiet at first but as the restaurant began to fill it was clear it had a lot of return clientele for eat-in and takeaway. The menu is interesting and varied, with a selection of traditional curry-house dishes and specials. Service was attentive and friendly and by the time we left the place was starting to buzz. Food was maybe a little pricey, but there again, you get what you pay for. King prawn sarson and chicken tikka jalfrezi both really tasty. Having had a favourite tandoori for nearly 25 years where we used to live, we think we've found another 'keeper'. Will definitely be back...
Superb
We always get a takeaway from here when visiting the area... it's one of the things we really look forward to. The fact that it is a stand alone Tandoori restaurant with no immediate competition, it is a testament to how professional and fabulous the service and food are here. We visit the area once a year and have a dog with us, so unfortunately never able to eat in but when I have gone to collect our delicious food, the staff are very courteous and the restaurant and bar area look very clean and tidy. When back in the area, we will order again - no brainer.
Superb
Two recent visits to this restaurant within a week, both meals were superb. The first visit was with my family, we all had different meals and all thoroughly enjoyed them. The second visit was with a couple of friends and again the food was excellent. The chicken Zeera is my favourite dish so far!
The service is very good and the staff are friendly, the menu is wide ranging so there should be something to suit most tastes, they even do children's versions of some dishes. Tuesday night is buffet night which I haven't tried recently so can't comment on it at the moment. I have had the buffet here a few years ago and it was also very good.
Well worth a visit.
Wonderful array of food
So good we came twice in three days and we live twenty miles away. Poppadums to start then over the two meals we had fish shashlick, huge chunks of fish and loads of onions, juicy chicken shashlick, duck tikka, tandoori chicken, sag paneer, tarka dhal - wonderful texture and roast garlic flavour, cauliflower bhaji, a spicy king (more monster) prawn curry, and three special two in one dishes, where you get two different curries in one special split dish, a great idea, and you do get more for the little extra... Every things was so full of flavour, especially my extra hot choices, lots of wonderful touches like green chillis and slivers of ginger, and we didn't even scratch the surface of the menu... Lots of seafood chouces, loads of vegetarian options, and excellent wine too. A few miles out of town but definitely worth the trip, and absolutely amazing value. We ordered way too much but the food was so good we weren't leaving any. Excellent staff, I can only say I'm actually glad I don't live too close, as I would be there every day otherwise... Not that that would be a bad thing, except for my waistline.
Simply wonderful.
Excellent food
Visited hear for a sit down meal today. The food was as usual perfect. Could not complain. The only slight issue I had was the leaflet for the banquet offer they do on Sundays suggested you got 1.starter 2.main 3. Rice or chips. 4. Bread. But elsewhere in the writing it does say chips/rice or bread.. slightly misleading. And also there's a price limit on each section.. which is fine for most of it except for the starter, the limit was £3.25, and out of say 20ish of the starters they offer, only 3 of them are £3.25 or below. And I did not like any of them... so was kind of forced to either just order one and give it to my friends or give up the £9.95 banquet offer and order straight off the menu and probably end up spending double then. I think just adding a few more options in the starter for this deal would be great. Other than that business as usual and fantastic tasting food.
All you can eat
Came here for a birthday meal, there were plenty of choices and they were all delicious. The wine was reasonable and plenty of it. It was a good night and we will definitely return. I really recommend the coconut naan, they’re delicious 😋
Love it!
Best tandoori I've ever had, the chicken was juicy, the naan was the best I've ever had and the onion bhajis were delicious
Lovely
Really tasty food and a good choice on the menu. Service is good but not intruding. Very good value unlike a lot of local Indians. Decor could do with brightening up.
Good takeaway
We have had a few takeaways from here and its just as good as a restaurant meal. The curry is always very tasty.
Best Indian food
Superb food in clean fresh surroundings with knowledgeable, attentive staff. We visit here quite often and this restaurant must rank as one of the best 'Indian' in the country. Well worth a visit.
Great food, excellent service
We have eaten at The Lea Cross tandoori restaurant a few times now, and we have never been disappointed with the food and the service. They have a level of service that isn't often evident in restaurants these days. We are impressed that even if we haven't been in for a while, they not only remember us, but also remember what we like to eat, that's rare. In our humble opinion, the best Indian food in this area.
tasty meal
Passing by we decided to drop in and try it out. The service is excellent and the food is good. Prices are reasonable. The premises are smart and recently done up.
Mr Jones
One of the best Indian meals I've had anywhere in the country, the dual meal idea is great for trying different dishes nice atmosphere fantastic service
Best food I've had in ages!
We were staying nearby and had passed this place a few times on trips on days out. Not being able to decide where to eat we were moody and tired after a long day so on our way back we decided to 'just stop here and eat' and I'm so glad we did! The food was some of the best I have had in years (and I'm fussy)! We had starters, mains and sides and we were full! I can't remember how much our bill was but I do remember being very pleasantly surprised! I'm just gutted it's not in my town
Treat from the husband
The restaurant is very modern and spotless (Inc bathroom)
We were seated very quick by very polite staff.
The food has to be the best we have had for many years and we have tried most of the local indian restaurants. I even managed to have a new to me starter and main course (I have a chilli allergy).
The staff were very attentive but not intrusive at all.
If you fancy a beautiful meal then please give this place a try.
Best Indian restaurant for miles
Fifth visit to Lea Cross Tandoori. Have visited others in the are and various locations in the UK. Will keep returning as the food is so much nicer here. Relaxed friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, great service, great food, great value.
Great food, friendly staff
Interesting menu old favourites and new dishes. All very well presented and cooked. A very nice place to eat families and couples.
Don't 'Cross' it off
Arrived with friends without prior booking. This was once the Lea Cross pub on the main Shrewsbury to Pontesbury road, refurbished and taken over by the owners of the former 'Anjali's' close by. Very professional welcome and although busy with diners, a table for 4 was soon found in the new 'conservatory' dining area. Drinks and poppadoms followed whilst deciding from the vast menu. Glad to say that all the food we were served is still of the same high standard as well as the service. I like my plate wiped, warmers on the table and food re-heated before I serve myself or 'dip' in other bowls. I believe 'take-out' is only available after a certain time. Excellent!
Excellent sub-continent cuisine in rural Shropshire
What a welcome surprise to find this restaurant with an excellent selection of menus to tempt all palates to well prepared cuisine. The establishment is spotlessly clean and the staff very informative in advising the diners on the dishes of choice. Nothing worse than ordering a dish which is too hot or spicy to enjoy. Quality of the food could not be faulted.
Best Indian restaurant I have visited. Always a lovely meal and staff extremely pleasant. Worth the effort to travel.
Sandra Banfield, August 2016We have been eating at The Anjali, now Lea cross Tandoori for nearly twenty years and cannot rate it highly enough. Excellent food and service. The guys that run it can't do enough for you. If you want something that is not on the menu, they will make it for you . EXCELLENT.
Jean and Mike Davies, February 2016Buffet. Meal
Tuesday is buffet night. Lovely meal, lovely atmosphere, lovely service, lovely price. Never had a bad meal went it was round the corner and it looks like nothing has changed except the name.
Birthday meal
It was our first time visiting the Lea Cross Tandoori. And I have to say it was excellent. As there were 6 of us I did book a few days in advance. The food was amazing the service was excellent. Will definitely go back.
Great takeaway!
Fantastic takeaway from here on a Friday night. The duck tikka Massala was excellent, and all of the food WA fresh and tasty.
Superb meal in great surroundings
Called without booking just as they opened on a Friday, which was lucky as the place quickly filled up! The owners have done an excellent job in renovating the old pub. The food seemed even better than when they were round the corner at Anjali's ! A warm, friendly welcome, excellent food, and pleasant surroundings. What more could you ask...
What a fantastic start!
The guys are back in business and it was nice to see so many people coming for the excellent food. We have been coming to the Anjali for years and the food is consistently very good. Friendly staff too, they always make the effort.
